Declaration 8M 2022: WOMEN ARE NOT FOR SALE

8M: Prostitution and trafficking in women

Any form of slavery is despicable, but it is alarming that the pornography and the prostitution generate more victims and an ever-growing illegal business worth billions. Lprostitution is and has been an attack on women since time immemorial. But hypersexualization, omnipresent in our times, exponentially feeds the demand for this practice that objectifies people, and the trafficking mafia is there to satisfy it.

We insist, once again, that the 8M has no meaning if the dignity of women is not at the center of the demands and therefore, today more than ever we have to raise our voices to stop these acts of violence and denigration of women. we demand from our authorities a greater institutional and budgetary commitment and cooperation with public and private organizations of civil society to eradicate slavery in all its forms, not only with zealous enforcement of the law against the sale and purchase of persons, but also in addressing situations of vulnerability and high risk.

Women and girls must stop being seen as an object. As long as the pornography industry, prostitution (not only illegal prostitution) and the objectification of women in the media continue, there will continue to be a client who buys these "services" by staining himself with the physical or psychological death of millions of innocent people.

8-M | Surrogacy

8-M | Surrogacy

The 8M has no meaning if women's dignity is not at the center of the demands.

That is why we are devoting special attention these days to surrogacy, a form of exploitation of women and objectification of the person.

We share a video we made some time ago in which we tell you about the seriousness of the exploitation suffered by women in surrogacy and how mothers and babies are turned into objects to be bought and sold.

Despite the seriousness of the issue, many countries or cities in the world continue to try to legalize this practice, with the justification of a misunderstood freedom, which in most cases only pursues economic interests. This is the case of the Congress of Mexico City, where legislators from different political parties recently presented an initiative to allow surrogacy and even intend to promote the City internationally as an ideal destination for surrogacy.

In Women of the World, we reiterate that "surrogacy is incompatible with the dignity of the women and children involved and a violation of their fundamental rights". (Council of Europe).

We also invite you to read and share the report "Surrogacy, a new form of exploitation of women and human trafficking". In this report you will see the psychological, medical and social damage caused by surrogacy: children are turned into a commercial product with quality control; surrogate mothers become a disposable product; and in many countries surrogacy is invariably linked to prostitution networks.

In addition, this practice contradicts a number of international norms and provisions, especially those related to human dignity, adoption, protection of women and children, and human trafficking.

Here you can read the report:

Surrogacy should be a practice prohibited in international instruments and seen for what it is, a practice that violates human rights.

It is necessary that the competent international institutions impose a universal ban on surrogate motherhood, because it poses a real risk of exploitation and human trafficking, and because it is an attack on human dignity by turning women and children into commercial products.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day

On this February 14th we celebrate Valentine's Day, remembering the people we love. We often see how many stores and businesses promote and sell all kinds of gifts to express that affection, but like any physical gift these things do not last forever. That is why, from Women of the World we want to share with you some not so common (and much cheaper) gift ideas so that you can express your affection. to the people around you in your daily life.

Some of these gestures may seem very simple on the surface, but they have a great impact not only for the person receiving them, but also for the giver. Here are some examples:

  1. Listen carefully to the person who is speaking to you.
  2. Yield to the other car while driving.
  3. Show a smile even if you've had a tough day.
  4. Open our hearts to new friendships.
  5. Calling your friend just to see how she is doing.
  6. Collaborate in household chores.
  7. Visit your parents or call them on the phone.
  8. Open the doors of our home to those in need.
  9. Correct gently, but without fear.
  10. Celebrate the successes of others.
  11. Greet with joy those you see on a daily basis.

That we do not let this day pass without having a detail with someone close to us and tell them that we care and love them.

From the WoW Team we wish you a Happy Valentine's Day!
